Hi Will, you will need a DI box with a ground lift to eradicate the buzz. I hope this helps.

I use a desktop computer quite a lot for sound, but I often get a reasonaby high pitched buzzing hum. Will a DI box fix this? We tend to use passives at my church, and I can probably steal one that's not being used from the piano. The don't have a ground lift button, but the desk doesn't ever have phantom power on and the DIs aren't plugged in, so are presumably not active.

Hi Bryan,
I was at your talks at Spring Harvest this year with some of our young people, and got the DVD afterwards. Both were excellent, and have improved our own sound system usage enormously. It has been good to see how our younger members are ending up running the PA systems at some of the churches they visit- and proving to the congregations that it is nothing to be afraid of!

There is no easy answer to this, certainly the government and industry have invested a large amount of money into awareness, however they were only in a position to notify licence holders directly. I would have expected that if you held a shared licence prior to the cut-off (which I believe was July 2009) then you should have received a notification letter from jfmg or their representatives.

As users of radio microphones we often make use of the free licence in channel 70, and as such the government have no record of our use. The manufacturers of radio microphones recommend that we do buy licences and if so we are much more likely to be compensated and kept informed.

In your situation I am afraid that you have little choice other than to continute to use channel 70 (for the time being) or replace your equipment.

Sorry.

Why was this not made more public, not only have a now got equipment that i cannot use after 2012 due to this, I've missed the cut off for compensation?! Plus surely when buying equipment, we should have been made aware of these changes???

I attended CRE today and purchased a copy of your training DVD.

I have just finished watching it and am very impressed with your expertise.

Having been involved in operating the PA at a couple of churches over the past 20 years I wish I had this DVD years ago.

Although an electronics engineer for 34 years, I really learnt a lot from your DVD and was especially pleased with the way that you brought up and explained many of the practical problems that I (and I am sure many other operators) have come across over the years.

Keep up the good work!
